COUNTRY TEACHERS’ NORMAL CLASS.

 

IN June a ten days’ Normal Class for country teachers only was held. Thirty-one teachers were in attendance, entirely at Korean expense. Eight of these were from the North Pyeng Yang circuit. They represented every grade of efficiency, but among them all there was manifest a spirit of desire to break away from past traditions, and to adopt better methods of teaching, as well as a realization of their own lack of equipment for their vocation. Two of them applied to enter the Academy. Lectures were given in general history and methods of teaching, also lessons in hygiene, arithmetic, geography, &c. Little more than an impetus toward better things could be given them during the limited time of the class, but at least they were afforded an opportunity to imbibe something of the spirit of the Academy and of the local schools in Pyeng Yang. They showed their willingness to learn by the fact that they were willing to accept instruction from the pupils of the advanced class of the Academy.

지역 교사 정상 수업

 

6월에 지역 교사만을 위한 10일간의 정상 수업이 열렸습니다. 총 31명의 교사가 참석했으며, 모든 비용은 한국 측에서 부담했습니다. 이 중 8명은 북평양(North Pyeng Yang) 여행에서 왔습니다. 그들은 각기 다른 수준의 효율성을 대표했지만, 모두 과거의 전통에서 벗어나고자 하는 열망과 더 나은 교수 방법을 채택하려는 의지를 보였으며, 자신의 직업에 대한 준비 부족을 깨닫고 있었습니다. 이들 중 두 명은 아카데미에 입학하고 싶다고 신청했습니다. 일반 역사와 교수 방법, 위생, 산수, 지리 등의 강의가 진행되었습니다. 수업의 한정된 시간 동안 그들에게 더 나은 방향으로 나아갈 수 있는 자극 이상을 제공하기는 어려웠지만, 적어도 그들은 평양(Pyeng Yang)의 아카데미와 지역 학교의 정신을 느낄 기회를 가졌습니다. 그들은 아카데미의 고급 반 학생들로부터 수업을 받을 의사를 보임으로써 배우려는 의지를 나타냈습니다.
